There comes a point
in every tuner's journey where limitations
of the stock system and the unavailability
of aftermarket products cause unsolvable
headaches.
Picture the following scenario: The engine
is rebuilt and the inline high-pressure
pump is installed. It’s forcing
fuel into your brand new High-Flow fuel
rail. The car is on the dynometer and
the tuning begins. The attached wideband
O2 sensor displays the precise Air/Fuel
ratios and you need a way to adjust the
fuel pressure.
Obviously, the stock Fuel Pressure Regulator
is less-than-adequate for any serious
tuning, and the only available replacements
are a couple of re-worked factory systems.

you really want is a High Performance
fuel pressure regulator that all other
serious tuners use, but you have no
way to attach it to your fuel rail.

The problems you face are difficult:
· the factory rail has no material
for tapping a thread and attaching a fitting,
· you would try welding a fitting
onto the rail’s exit but the timing
chain cover is in the way,
· you would tap the rail somewhere
on it’s body but that’s not
a really ideal way to control the fuel
flow,
· you would make your own fuel
rail, but the costs of designing and producing
your own one-off design are incredibly
high,
· you would buy an aftermarket
rail only if it was threaded, but none
are available. They may flow more but,
on exit, they are identical to the factory
fuel rail.

We recognized a need to provide GM owners
who use this primitive fuel-pressure regulator
with an alternative.

Our
ID FPR Replacement fitting is a direct
replacement for a factory GM FPR. It attaches
to the rail and provides a 6AN outlet
elbow that can be used to interface with
any number of the high performance aftermarket
fuel pressure regulators.
As can be seen from the pictures the fitting
works well on aftermarket fuel rails as
well.
For serious racing applications the fitting
can be welded to the rail directly (furst
having removed the rubber O-Ring) for
a permamnet installtion.
This fitting will also work on engines
other than 2.4L LD9 and Ecotec as long
as their stock regulator is the same as
the one in these pictures.
